Ryan Van Dyke
Ryan Van Dyke was born in California and then spent his childhood moving across the United States, living in both northern and southern California, central Illinois, upstate New York and eventually the Twin Cities where he attended the University of St. Thomas. After graduating with his bachelor’s in history, he went on to spend two years in South Korea where he worked as an English teacher. His life experiences have taught him how to be flexible and adventurous. It also demonstrated to him that the Church truly is universal as the Church remained a constant throughout his travels and moves both as a child and as an adult.
This constant presence of the Church in his life, providing him a stable foundation has allowed him to embrace his faith, and has enriched his life. He greatly admires and seeks to emulate the Saints, in particular St. Thomas Aquinas for his dedication to his studies, St. Ignatius of Loyola for his deep spirituality and desire to always expand that faith and St. Francis Xavier for his willingness to explore and venture forth into the unknown. The examples of these great men have given him inspiration in the spiritual life, and he prays that he may someday find sainthood like them.
In his spare time Ryan enjoys spending time with his friends, swing dancing, exploring his love of classic cinema, writing and pursuing his love of history. He looks forward to engaging with his new parish and home and helping to spur and guide a new generation’s love for Christ and His Church.
