Faith Formation Classes Grades 1-5

In Grades 1-5, children will grow in their knowledge of the Trinity- God the Father, Jesus His Son and the Holy Spirit and explore what it means to be Catholic. We use the series, Call to Faith from Our Sunday Visitor, to introduce concepts about the Mass, the Seven Sacraments, Mary and the Rosary, seasons of the liturgical year, and vocations. We are in the third year of the Virtues in Practice program, which introduces children to saints and virtues with a family take-home element each month. The children will learn to use the Bible and how the readings relate to the Mass. By studying the Ten Commandments and Beatitudes, they will understand morality and how to make good choices. The children will discover and use new forms of prayer. Through service projects, they will gain knowledge about Catholic social teachings. Families have opportunities to share their faith together through parent/child learning centers for each of the grade levels and on specific Christian seasons and concepts- Advent/Christmas/Epiphany, Lent/Easter, Praying in Color, Works of Mercy, and Mary, Mother of God.
