Liturgical Ministry<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

The liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time, it is the font from which all Her powers flow. In the liturgy, there are many opportunities for one to serve God\u2019s people. Members of the Liturgical Ministries provide hospitality, and also assist the priest and the assembly in the celebration of the Eucharist. They are supported in their ministry with annual gatherings for spiritual enrichment and workshops.<\/p>\n

Weekend Liturgies<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Altar Servers<\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Altar Servers assist the Priests in several ways during the Mass.
\nThis is a wonderful way for young people to affirm knowledge of the
\nliturgy and take a more active role in the Mass.<\/p>\n

Altar Servers must be in 3rd Grade or over and have made their First Communion.<\/em>

Greeters<\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Greeters take on a hospitable role to all those who enter our Church.
\nWhile this Liturgical Ministry does not take place during the Mass itself, the Greeter welcomes each and every person who is about to encounter Jesus in the Eucharist.<\/p>\n

Greeters over the age of 18 are required to complete VIRTUS Training.<\/em>

Sacristans<\/h4>\n

Sacristans help make Masses flow smoothly by assisting in setup and
\npreparation in conjunction with Father and the other Liturgical Ministers.
\nAlthough often \u201cunseen,\u201d the duties of a Sacristan do not go unnoticed.<\/p>\n

Sacristans are typically appointed by the Pastor and is also a trained Eucharistic Minister.<\/em>

Extraordinary <\/span>Ministers<\/h4>\n

Extraordinary <\/span> Ministers maintain an extra special role in the Mass by providing Jesus\u2019 love through the Source and Summit of our faith.<\/p>\n

Extraordinary <\/span> Ministers must be fully-initiated members of the Catholic Church in order to serve. (Meaning that one has received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation.)<\/em>

Lectors<\/h4>\n

Lectors have the incredible privilege of bringing the Word of God to life through proclaiming scripture and reading prayer.
\nOne\u2019s full and active participation in this ministry is vital to its success.<\/p>\n

Ushers<\/h4>\n

Ushers are the eyes and ears during Masses.
\nNot only do they help with the collection, assisting handicapped parishioners, and offering helpful guidance, they are also our first responders if anything goes awry.<\/p>\n

Weekday Liturgies<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Altar Guild<\/h4>\n

Altar Guild members take on the role of Sacristan for Weekday Liturgies. Members also take extra care of the vessels, linens, and altar cloths by helping to purificate and launder items to help maintain them for all liturgies.<\/p>\n

Altar Guild members rotate on a weekly basis.
\nThey need not serve as weekend Sacristans.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Lectors\/Servers\/Eucharistic Ministers<\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Lectors, Servers, and Eucharistic Ministers take on a similar role to those who do so at the Weekend Liturgies, with exceptions owing to the design of a Weekday Liturgy.<\/p>\n

Lectors, Servers, and Eucharistic Ministers serve on the same day every week. They need not serve as weekend ministers, though the training is similar.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Training is required before beginning any of the Weekday Liturgy ministries.
\nPlease contact the Parish Office to offer your time and talent and receive training.<\/em><\/p>\n

Art and Environment<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Art and Environment is a lay-driven group that helps to decorate the Church in accordance with the liturgical season. Questions on how to offer your time to this ministry may be directed to the Parish Office.<\/p>\n
