Pastoral Council Meeting Minutes

1. Opening Prayer
2. Church Renovation
The council discussed several aspects of the church renovation.

• A communion rail was discussed along with a list of renovation priorities, like pews and carpet.
• Feedback received to date has generally been positive.
• A suggestion box is available for parishioner comments.
• Some parishioners may have preferred an opportunity to vote or provide more direct input.
• Parishioners have expressed interest in a new sound system.

3. 40 Hours of Devotion

• This will be the third year for the event.
• The event is planned to begin October 30 at 2:00 PM and conclude November 1 at 8:00 AM.
• Parishioner input on intentions or topics to pray for was discussed.

4. Evening of Healing

• No date has been established yet.
• The event is expected to require approx. eight priests, with availability being a consideration.

5. Christmas Bazaar

• A committee has been established, and the Christmas Bazaar is planned for December 6.
• The Knights will be involved with a pancake breakfast.
• Other activities discussed included a raffle, silent auction, kids’ games and a pie sale offering.
• The Confirmation class may assist with the event to help with more kids’ activities

6. Diocesan Synod: Vocations/Evangelization

• The bishop’s focus and the role of the Pastoral Council in providing leadership were discussed.
• The council considered the question: What do we want our parish’s focus to be?
• Council members should ask parishioners for ideas regarding what the parish could accomplish in the areas of vocations and evangelization.
• Group feedback could also come from the Confirmation class and OCIA class.
• The parish does have a discipleship squad program which supports the evangelization initiative.

7. Pastor Update / Other Topics

• Sheila’s position has been posted.
